Spring Ritucharya

Spring Ritucharya

Spring has sprung in the northern hemisphere.

And in spring, the Kapha dosha tends to worsen. This means that the imbalances of this dosha, which occur in winter, surface in the spring.

The main ailments caused by Kapha imbalances are usually colds, respiratory allergies, weight gain, greater fluid retention and a possible increase in cellulite.

The mental signs are slowness, mental inertia, depression and over-attachment.

The people who are most susceptible to these problems have a constitution with a predominant Kapha dosha.

To help restore a balance:
◾The key to balancing Kapha is stimulation and motivation: seek variety in life, meet new people, and find new novelties.
◾Reduce your intake of sweet and salty foods.
◾Avoid damp or humidity.
◾Exercise regularly.
◾Cleanse your body with Ubtans (plant powders that stimulate the metabolism), and massage your body with oils that balance Kapha.
◾Take massages that balance the Kapha dosha (Udvartana or Udgarshana). Give yourself a daily massage with Kapha Body Cream.
◾Add fresh ginger to your meals. Use spices in your cooking.
◾Drink infusions that balance the Kapha dosha (Kapha-Moringa Tea).

In spring, choose a lighter, drier and less fatty diet than in other seasons. Reduce your consumption of dairy products (cheese, yoghurt, milk and ice cream), as they tend to increase Kapha.

Above all, enjoy one of the most beautiful seasons of the year!
